postpartum depression and breastfeeding?
I think I may be suffering from postpartum depression. I am also breastfeeding and plam to do so for a while. I have made an appointment with my doctor. I was told that if a woman suffers from depression they put her on medication. Does that have an effect on being able to breastfeed?
Your doctor will prescribe what is best for you and the baby, while you breastfeed. I was on Zoloft, and it helped tremendously, as well as being safe for my daughter, while I nursed her. And I have to agree with the one other post about being completely honest. There are so many different levels of postpartum, and it may be hard to admit certain thoughts you have had, but it will be the absolute best thing you can do for your baby.
Best wishes…
