Postpartum Depression With Twins

Can Your Wife Possibly Have Postpartum Depression?

It’s common for women to get a little sad soon after having a child. This should only last a few weeks though. If the situation persists, then your wife may be suffering from postpartum depression.

It isn’t exactly known why postpartum depression occurs. Women experience rapid hormonal changes during and after pregnancy which may play a part. Other changes such as high blood pressure and metabolic changes also occur which increases the risk.

This condition affects some women more often than others. Women who have been diagnosed with depression in the past have an increased risk. Women who have suffered from severe PMS symptoms may also have an increased risk. It’s also common for the condition to occur in women who have an unplanned pregnancy.

If you want to determine if your wife has postpartum depression, there are many signs to look out for. Your wife may not be very interested in the baby and may even start to resent it.

Your wife may even start feeling guilty about her feelings. Another sign is a change in sleeping habits, whether she starts to sleep more or less than she usually does. Changes in her appetite or weight may also occur.

There are certain things that you do to help your wife deal with postpartum depression. You should definitely talk to her about her feelings. If you can take care of a few things around the house so she can have alone time, it would really help. Enrolling in a support group is also a good idea.

You should also strongly consider signing up for marriage counseling. If the condition is causing problems in your marriage, this is even more important. Women suffering from the condition may need psychotherapy.

Hormone replacement therapy is also another solution. However, there are a few risk associated with this therapy, so you should discuss it thoroughly with your physician. One final option may be the use of antidepressants.

After having a child, it’s not uncommon for women to develop postpartum depression. If your wife is going through it, you need to show your support and help her through those tough times. It’s a good idea to sign up for counseling or psychotherapy sessions. You’ll find counseling to be quite useful when dealing with other problems in the relationship. Doc No. 34Sdlhgsdl -sds
